Manifest 2011; and the Future

Having... mainly stopped suffering from severe post-Con depression, I guess I shall now blog about going to Manifest for the second time... quite obviously, a well-earned break from writing my thesis... I cosplayed for the first time, I guess it wasn't too bad... I mean, nobody really hated me... or at least, if they did... I didn't notice... might have had something to do with the noise-cancelling headset I had on for most of the time... while a headset is probably more accurate, probably not the best thing to cosplay with.

Either way... yes, I did actually end up cosplaying, thanks to a couple of the people here with their assistance... and also several people on the day, who ended up persuading me to cosplay. This is a photo of me in the cosplay, I ended up finding another Ghost, he was one of the staff at the booth Armoured Heaven, they were really nice and cool, allowed me to borrow a toy gun for the photo ^_^ The cosplay probably looks better when armed, but yeah...

Either way, Manifest was a great time. I had lots of fun, Anime Idol and the Auction and the Dancing was really good. Met some really cool new friends, and saw loads of great cosplays. Unfortunately couldn't get a satisfactory number of photos etc... but yeah, all in all, was a good experience. Hoping I can go next year... but in the meantime, considering going to a couple of the other Conventions like Armageddon and Supanova... not sure about cosplaying though, time and money are issues that would need to be resolved (would also be issues I'd have to face to actually attend in the first place too...)

Also... thesis has progressed a bit, I guess. Ran into a couple of issues, and have changed my topic a couple of times... ripped out the heart of my thesis, but hopefully I can still get it done in the 5 or so weeks I have left before it's due...

Finally... guess I'm going to end up suiting up quite often soon. Have several formal functions soon, though I'm not sure if I can end up going to them all... we shall see though. I should buy a new suit soon... and get several other things fixed up too...

Mmm... break done, back to thesis. *waves and disappears*

Random Update

So... assessments for the semester completed... the last month and a half or so have been absolutely terrible... I'm glad it's all over now. Still though, no rest for the weary... work, work, work. Had to bus down to Peninsula yesterday for coaching, at least we managed a win... Refereeing is starting to pick up to. We got some cool bright yellow uniforms, but yeah, it's still a work in progress. The players are so demanding sometimes... -_-

And finally, relaxing-type stuff. Might start looking at some creative stuff again, now that I have some more free time on my hands... and at least as relevant, now that I have money, too :P Still need to buy my own amp and get some cables, so yeah... And last but not least, looking at karaoke machines. Couple of friends have one, and I've currently borrowed one... they seem kind of interesting.

Cosplay.

So... like, yeah. Random thought for the day. Or maybe month. Or week? Or something? I figured it would be kind of cool to cosplay. It's not like this is completely out of the blue, I've considered doing League of Legends cosplays before (mainly Twisted Fate...), but in the end decided not to go through with it... Currently considering a cosplay which is somewhat more practical, even when not cosplaying...

So yeah. Ghost. From Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2. Figured he'd be kind of cool. Not too sure though, a lot of that military equipment is kind of pricey, and being in Australia, it's a no-go to get realistic and legit looking guns.

So... thoughts?

Work. Lots of Work.

So... it's been a while, I guess. Though it's not like people come here much, so nothing much has been missed... anyway, I was having loads of plans about what I could talk about, but I've been very busy with work, so... guess this will end up being the topic I end up talking about.

First things first, uni. Honours is a really hard year, though I hope it'll be worthwhile at the end of it all, but it's currently quite terrible. Taking a break from the work at the moment, I don't work well if I'm writing essays 24/7, unfortunately, it feels like that's what I need to do to be able to get things in on time... In any case, I've somehow managed to finish assignments worth about 12k words in the last month or so, though I've still got another 9k to not look forward to, coupled with a terrifying 15 minute presentation in a legit conference situation... *nervous sobs* I guess the silver lining, if there is one, is that I have no exams. To be honest though, I'd prefer less assignments and an exam... In any case, my university work situation is somewhat exacerbated by the fact that I'm starting work now, particularly aggravating as this essentially wipes my weekends, especially with the amount of travelling I have to do. Still though, I guess I get more driving practice, so those I drive to camp have less to worry about...

In any case, people may have noticed me bailing from university around 2 on Mondays and Wednesdays? Yeah, I have to coach the Year 7A team. They're actually very technically gifted, and the team shares some pretty strong bonds, and have good initiation. Very impressed with them, actually. Starting to work on tactics, I guess, it's a bit of a work in progress, I guess. Anyways, the team plays on Saturday, we started off with a 5-0 win on the weekend with a decent performance. Hopefully we can get some things done during training and implement some things and play even better this weekend. And on Sunday, I referee, or assist in soccer matches. It's not official FFV (Football Federation Victoria) leagues, but a separate amateur league, called the Multicultural Friendly League. It's kind of awkward as I have friends in several teams, and everyone wants decisions going their way... I swear, match officials (of all sports) don't get paid enough for what they do. Matches cannot go on without them, yet everyone always spends their time whining about things... people need to recognise that officials are humans too, and also make mistakes. Doesn't help if you're friends with members of the teams, I guess...

Anyways, random second blog complete, time to like... casually not blog for a while, I guess? Anyways, off to go write some more of my 4k literature review...

So. Like. Blogging?

So here I am, randomly... blogging away, I guess. Why, I don't know, guess I have some very persuasive friends... THANKS GUYS. It's not like I have essays due that I've already gotten extensions for that I need to finish off or anything...

Anyway, no idea what I'll really be blogging... maybe how my studies go, maybe how my jobs go... maybe the random things I try to create in my free time... maybe how poorly gaming goes...

So... like, yeah. This is it for my first post, I guess. Should probably go finish those essays... and I guess, leave you all wondering about what strange and awkward stuff will appear on my blog in the futre...

*waves goodbye*
